No DPF's are fitted to any UK spec iCTDi Civics unless ordered as an optional (expensive) extra. The 9G 2.2 will have a DPF with its DTEC engine. D. When driven very spirited it could go up to 8l /100 km (35 mg) whereas driven extremely frugal with Eco mode on I also managed runs of just 5l /100 km (55 mpg). You sort of have to wind up the 2.2 where as the 1.6 has very little lag and is eager to go. The 2.2 also seemed heaver on the front end. I seem to remember the 2.2 is 80kg heavier than the 1.6. The 2.2 does suffer with clutch issues and I think the ones with dpf have issues (cant remember if that was late mk8 or early mk9). I use 5w-30, partly because it can be a fair bit cheaper and partly because I don't believe that the UK weather gets cold enough for it to make any real difference. Thicker viscosity oils put a greater loading on the oil pump drive. 2.2 Power Loss When Under Hard Acceleration. In the last 3 or 4 weeks my 2.2 has suffered a sudden momentary large power loss when under hard acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gear.
